A friend on Facebook posted this article, entitled “Religious discrimination lawsuit filed claiming Voss Lighting requires workers to be Christian”.
Something similar happened to me when I was moving house as a kid, and we were trying to get me into a particular (what turned out to be religious) school – which involved a sort of interview. They asked the question, “Do you attend church?” Being Jewish, I truthfully said, “None.” The next half hour was a “why haven’t you found Jesus yet?” marathon. They never asked if I was of any persuasion other than presumed Christian, and I didn’t volunteer the information, because I felt it was none of their business. What clinched the deal of me not going there was that they – completely seriously – had a policy involving corporal punishment. I’m not the type – never have been – to do things warranting that kind of bullshit, but the mere presence of that policy on their roster made me want to vomit.
Not surprisingly, I didn’t get accepted. Thank God.
